Resumen:

INTRODUCCIÓN

Hoy en día, el uso de las Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicación (TIC) en la educación, es prueba de innovación, calidad y facilidad de acceso. Conscientes de este reto, las instituciones de educación superior están haciendo esfuerzos para incorporar estas herramientas que promuevan, motiven y mejoren los procesos de enseñanza aprendizaje.

La inclusión de políticas mundiales que apoyan el uso de las TIC en la educación ha sido deseada y esperada desde hace mucho tiempo. La primera política referida a la integración de las TIC fue declarada explícitamente dentro de los Objetivos de Desarrollo del Milenio ( ODM ) descritos en el objetivo 8F. En cooperación con el sector público, proporcionar acceso a los beneficios en las nuevas tecnologías, especialmente la información y la comunicación?, y en la reunión de Educación Global para Todos (EPT) 2014, cuyos objetivos educativos propuestos por el Grupo de Trabajo Abierto sobre el Desarrollo Sostenible 4. enuncia: ?Garantizar la inclusión de oportunidades de aprendizaje permanente y una educación de calidad y equitativa para todos?. Siendo la universidad la llamada a dar respuestas a las necesidades emanadas del avance de la tecnología, considerando que los debates acerca de uso de las TIC no son de hoy, sino más bien una preocupación que viene dada desde el surgimiento mismo de la tecnología.

Hoy en día, conscientes de este contexto, las instituciones de educación superior están incorporando las TIC para promover el logro efectivo de los resultados de aprendizaje. Las TIC se involucran en todo el quehacer humano como parte integral y activa de nuestra sociedad. Por tanto, ya no es posible pensar en una educación en la cual las TIC no sean un apoyo esencial en todo el proceso educativo, volviéndose una parte consustancial del mismo.

El impacto de las TIC ha implicado que se deban utilizar nuevas herramientas para aprender, comunicarse y vincularse con la sociedad acorde a su desarrollo. Una prueba de ello es la vinculación entre educación y tecnología. Precisamente, las instituciones educativas alrededor del mundo han tratado de incluir el uso de algún tipo de TIC como evidencia de innovación y calidad en los procesos educativos. Una de las formas más utilizadas de las TIC es el uso de los sistemas de gestión de aprendizaje tales como Moodle con el uso del aula virtual para la adopción de la educación virtual desde sus diferentes modalidades.

Adicionalmente las características particulares de la enseñanza en ingeniería que necesita ser enfocado desde sus rasgos distintivos tales como: diseñar actividades de tipo práctico y concreto, contextualizar el problema, motivar el aprendizaje relacionando el material nuevo con el anterior, etc., son sólo algunas de las recomendaciones que deben ser consideradas cuando se diseñan actividades de aprendizaje en carreras técnicas, lo cual generalmente no ocurre debido a la brecha que existe entre las enseñanzas técnicas, la pedagogía y la didáctica, sin entender que son componentes que deben tener un vínculo estrecho casi intangible pero esencial.

La motivación de esta investigación es aportar con propuestas que permitan reducir la brecha entre la tecnología y la enseñanza en ingeniería. Tales propuestas permitirán apoyar a instituciones de educación superior que tienen dificultades para incluir la tecnología como herramienta en el aula.

Algunas barreras que impiden la inclusión de las TIC en la educación virtual para ingeniería se deben a la falta de estándares, modelos y metodologías que permitan proveer de un marco de trabajo guía para la implementación de la educación virtual, para ello se ha trabajado en las propuestas que se describen a continuación.


DESARROLLO

El trabajo desarrollado en esta investigación consideró como insumos, el diagnóstico realizado desde la perspectiva de los involucrados de la institución del caso de estudio así como también la información que proviene de la revisión sistemática de la literatura, para con ello establecer las necesidades, las mismas que permitieron establecer el campo de acción de esta investigación. Por tanto los aportes de esta investigación se basan en propuestas que contribuyen con modelos y metodologías que permitan un marco de trabajo guía para la optimización de los procesos relacionados con el uso de la educación virtual en las instituciones de educación superior de ingeniería.

Se partió con establecer un marco de trabajo del Modelo PEME (Planificar, Elaborar, Monitorear, Evaluar) para diseñar espacios virtuales basados en fundamentos pedagógicos, instruccionales y técnicos. Asimismo se definió un proceso de autoformación de docentes de ingeniería Input-Output-Process (IPO) que contempla entradas, procesos y salidas utilizando la educación virtual para la autoformación permanente.

Un aporte muy importante en esta investigación lo constituyó la Metodología de Análisis de Texto y Análisis de Sentimiento (ATS), la misma que se basa en un conjunto de herramientas de minería de datos que utilizan el análisis de texto y el análisis de sentimiento para analizar los textos no estructurados que provienen de la web. Así como los datos que provienen de la web tales como redes sociales o de las empresas que utilizan la minería de datos para determinar el sentimiento positivo o negativo de sus clientes, así mismo se propone esta metodología para analizar los datos del contexto educativo, con el objetivo de obtener un valor de polaridad que permita analizar el sentimiento positivo, negativo o neutro de los datos de este contexto.

La propuesta define dos fases la Fase 1 de Análisis de Texto donde se procede a la recolección y limpieza de datos terminando la fase al determinar la frecuencia de palabras obtenidas. A continuación se pasa a la Fase 2 donde se realiza el proceso de traducción automática, con el resultado obtenido se realiza el análisis de sentimientos propiamente dicho, para finalmente obtener los valores de polaridad de las cadenas analizadas. La aplicación de esta metodología permitió recabar importante información del diagnóstico realizado a los involucrados, que no pudo ser evaluado utilizando métodos cuantitativos tradicionales.

Para validar las propuestas se utilizó como caso de estudio a la Escuela Politécnica Nacional, institución líder en las enseñanzas técnicas en su país, este caso de estudio es relevante por la particularidad de los datos. Con el fin de realizar un diagnóstico del estado actual de la educación virtual en la IES del caso de estudio, se utilizó el Modelo de madurez del e-learning (eMM) que permitió establecer fortalezas, debilidades y propuestas de mejora. Adicionalmente se propone la incorporación de una nueva Área clave de proceso (KPAs) dentro del modelo eMM, como es la Accesibilidad. La propuesta se basa en la necesidad de incorporar este concepto dentro de la educación virtual dada su relevancia para que el acceso a la educación de los estudiantes con algún tipo de discapacidad no se vea limitado.


CONCLUSIONES

Como conclusiones del trabajo realizado se pueden mencionar:

La investigación realizada partió de la identificación del problema y de la definición de una base teórica del estado de la cuestión de la educación virtual.

El diagnóstico realizado para determinar la línea de base de acción para esta investigación desde la perspectiva de los involucrados, utilizó técnicas tradicionales de investigación y técnicas de minería de datos. Como resultado se obtuvo el complemento ideal en razón de la dificultad de cuantificar y evaluar las preguntas abiertas de los instrumentos como los cuestionarios en línea. De esta forma se pudo corroborar resultados y realizar un estudio más detallado de los datos con el objetivo de detectar información relevante.

La propuesta de un marco de trabajo para implementar aulas virtuales en ingeniería que contemple elementos pedagógicos, didácticos y tecnológicos se vio como una falencia por tanto una necesidad. Para ello se propone el modelo PEME para la construcción espacios virtuales de aprendizaje, el modelo define fases que guían este proceso, lo que constituye un aporte para eliminar la brecha entre la educación en ingeniería y la tecnología.

La necesidad de un proceso de formación permanente para los docentes de ingeniería fue detectada, para satisfacer este requerimiento se propone un modelo de proceso de autoformación que considera entradas, procesos y salidas para la actualización permanente con el uso del e-learning y el autoaprendizaje contínuo en los roles de estudiante y tutor en forma simultánea.

La metodología de análisis de texto y análisis de sentimiento usando minería de datos, se propone como una solución a la necesidad de evaluar cadenas de texto no estructuradas de los entornos en línea con resultados satisfactorios. Si bien esta metodología fue probada para un entorno educativo la generalidad de sus métodos permite que pueda ser usada en cualquier entorno.

El modelo de madurez eMM, se seleccionó como una solución a la falta de estándares de calidad de los procesos involucrados en la educación virtual. Dado que este modelo ofrece un conjunto de elementos fácilmente adaptables a las necesidades de las IES, pudo ser aplicado a la EPN como caso de estudio, ofreciendo recomendaciones para la aplicación y mejora de la educación virtual.

Se detectó información relevante para la toma de decisiones por parte de los involucrados como el compromiso por parte de los docentes, para dedicar tiempo y esfuerzo para promover el uso de las TIC en el aula a través de las aulas virtuales como herramientas de apoyo al trabajo presencial. Por tanto será importante proponer incentivos que les facilite a los docentes plasmar en acciones concretas sus intenciones.

El determinar que todos los involucrados consideran a Moodle como una herramienta con un alto grado de usabilidad, y que el b-learning es la modalidad apropiada para este caso de estudio, constituye información que permitirá a los gestores de la institución la toma de decisiones acertivas.

Otro punto detectado en la investigación fue que los docentes también requieren soporte para el diseño de sus cursos a través de un equipo de apoyo. Este es un indicador que evalúa el modelo de madurez eMM y que en el análisis realizado se hizo evidente, esto permitirá optimizar el uso de la plataforma por parte de los involucrados.
