ML3T-SCI Master in Large Language Models and Language Technologies: Scientific and Corporate Innovation orientations
ML3T-SCI is framed as a holistic program for training experts in Large Language Models and Language Technologies, offering two specializations: one oriented towards scientific research and the other focused on corporate innovation.
Drawing from recent EU strategies and identified local training needs, specially the European Strategy for Universities (ESfU) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and given the impact that Languages Technologies (LT) and Large Language Models are currently having in our society, it is important that students are trained on these new techniques and methods to acquire the necessary abilities and competences to correctly and fairly define, develop and apply them into real applications to solve real societal and business problems. In this respect, specialized masters addressing the new research lines of Artificial Intelligence and LT trends are more important than ever, integrating not only the academic vision but also industrial and societal needs.
Therefore, we propose a set of design measures and a strategic plan towards the proposal and development of a «Master in Large Language Model and Language Technologies» (ML3T-SCI) with two orientations: 1) scientific specialization and 2) business innovation. A master of such characteristics requires the involvement of different European and international universities with proven expertise in these areas, so the proposed consortium involves the University of Alicante in Spain (coordinator), the International Hellenic University in Greece, the Industrial University of Santander in Colombia, and Universidad de La Habana in Cuba. Our proposed multidisciplinary Master’s program will offer a comprehensive curriculum covering foundational cuttingedge topics in language technologies, generative Artificial Intelligence, large language models, large corpus, and data lake. It will provide students with dual perspectives, encompassing both scientific research specialization and business-oriented training. Additionally, students will engage in hands-on learning experiences, including real-world projects, internships, and industry collaborations, to gain practical skills and insights into the application of these technologies. The proposed Joint Master ML3TSCI aims to prepare students to become experts suited for the current technological revolution in large language models and artificial intelligence generation.
